Be The Very Few To Get Automotive Repair Industry News

Posted by Robert  Published in tires

While the average person may not have much interest in automotive industry news, a lot of useful information can be obtained.  This would include the interesting reasoning behind why you can’t always find the car you want at a dealership.  Many consultants push for dealers to listen to the customers and their needs. Though this suggestion would work when you look at it theoretically, there are some things that are stopping it from happening.

It’s not actually the dealers that are dropping the ball most of the time; it's the automakers themselves. They may not ship what has been requested by the dealers, instead shipping the vehicle they want. This leaves the dealers with an inventory that isn't what they requested or what their customers want.

Now that dealer is stuck with vehicles that are not what the customer wants or needs. At times it will mean a huge backup of inventory that will sit around for months. Those hard to sell vehicles need to go, but how are they supposed to go about the process?

Sure, they can show you those vehicles, but that doesn't mean it's going to be what you want. You may agree to it eventually, because they don't have what you wanted, but you always leave the dealership thinking they were trying to push something on you.

Those vehicles that sit around for a while become a "brown banana". A vehicle that is sitting around and will be losing the value as it continues to be on the lot.  This leaves the dealer with a problem they aren't sure how to fix.

Of course, a dealer could always knock off a bunch of money on that vehicle.  This still doesn’t make the car what the customer wants, plus the dealer will be facing a time when they will be losing money. Little or no profit could easily lead to the closing of that dealership.

Of course dealers could head back to the days when hard sells were being used all the time. However, that isn't going to make a customer happy in any way. Many people hated to see a salesperson walking up them in those days.

A classic step that many dealers would use would be asking for your keys, stating they needed them to look at your trade-in. As those keys were no longer in the customer's hands they could continue working on you. Trying to wear you out and get you to agree to a new car.

Something that has left a bad taste in many people's mouths and memories is this type of sale. Basically feeling like you had to agree to the deal at some point, no matter how good it sounded. At times it would lead to you agreeing and be stuck with a vehicle you really didn't want or need.

Hopefully this Automotive Repair Industry News has allowed you to see that it can be a complex situation between the automaker, the dealer and the customer.  Automakers need to work with their dealers so that all benefit, and everyone needs to pay more attention to Global Automotive Industry News.
